The Chicago Gold Stars is a women’s soccer team in Chicago, IL that plays year-round. We are an open and welcoming team of women with varying skill levels. We play in several leagues in the Chicago-land area including both indoor soccer and outdoor soccer. Whether you’re just starting out, haven’t dusted off those spikes since high school, or played division I soccer, you have a home with the Chicago Gold Stars.
Indoor Soccer Leagues
Currently, our indoor team plays in the Windy City Wanderer’s IWSL Women’s Indoor League at Chicago Indoor Sports. This winter soccer league plays 6 v 6 on a beautiful turf field in the south-west side of the city. We’d love it if you would contact us to play.
Outdoor Soccer Leagues
In the past, we participated in the Windy City Wanderer’s inaugural outdoor season though the IWSL (Illinois Women’s Soccer League) in the Illinois State Soccer Association. We won first place, which included a bar tab! Games are played on a full field (11 v 11).
Our CMSA (Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association) women’s team finished in first place in both the spring and fall leagues. If you would like to join CMSA’s spring season, be sure to contact us. This is a 7 v 7 soccer league that plays outside on the north side of the city.
Travel Opportunities
This past year the Chicago Gold Stars participated in the Gay Games (Cologne, Germany)! While they did not place, team members made friends with many other teams, including Hobbergassen (from Germany) and The Flying Bats (from Australia).
We plan to participate in other lesbian soccer tournaments in upcoming years, such as the Festival of the Babes, the Toronto International Pride Cup, and the IGLFA North American Cup (through the North American Outgames).
